A common point of confusion is how this dharani relates to other famous chants.
While the Tibetan version of this Ekadasamukha Dharani is often titled the "Avalokitesvara Dharani" or "Chenrezig Long Mantra," it is highly famous in East Asia as the Tibetan Great Compassion Mantra (藏传大悲咒 / Zàngchuán Dàbēizhòu).
The Difference: It uses a slightly different Sanskrit root text than the standard 84-line Nīlakaṇṭha Dhāraṇī (the traditional Chinese/East Asian Dàbēizhòu), but both serve the exact same spiritual purpose: clearing negative karma, healing the mind, and invoking absolute protection.
